Summary

Abandoned Ukrainian wooden churches in Poland, particularly those of the Greek-Catholic tradition, face significant conservation challenges due to their log construction and rich interior polychrome decorations applied directly on structural elements. This study highlights a method for stabilizing these structures while preserving their authentic aesthetic and historical value through careful transfer techniques for the polychrome. Additionally, it explores the potential restitution of iconostases, currently stored in museum warehouses, by analyzing remaining fragments and proposing technical solutions. The research underscores the need to balance structural stabilization with the preservation of original decorative elements, ensuring the integrity of these UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
