Summary
A delay in the summer phenological peak of Paphos Forest, Cyprus, was linked to increased high temperatures in May 2018, while a single peak observed during November 2014–October 2015 may be attributed to reduced activity of the pine processionary moth due to low November temperatures. The study analyzed SAR data from 1992 to 2021, revealing two main annual blooming peaks—winter and summer—associated with foliage changes and needle regeneration, respectively. Meteorological data helped identify drivers of these phenological shifts. The research also highlighted the challenges in long-term forecasting, noting that seven years of data may be insufficient for accurate trend prediction due to climatic variability.
