Summary
A groundbreaking virtual reconstruction of the lost Lonja del Aceite, a medieval Valencia building predating the UNESCO-listed La Lonja de la Seda, has been achieved using unprecedented historical and urbanistic analysis. Unlike its famous successor, no physical remains or reliable visual documentation existed for this 14th–15th century structure, which was demolished in 1877. Researchers leveraged newly discovered graphical documentation and comparative architectural studies to determine its dimensions, location, and formal characteristics with high precision. This reconstruction not only recovers a lost piece of Valencia's history but also sets a new standard for virtual archaeology when faced with complete absence of physical evidence.
