Summary
A recent study on the Putorana Plateau's lakes, including Norilsk Lakes (Lama and Sobach’e) and Kutaramakan Lake, identified two new species: Senecella calanoides in zooplankton and five water mite species in zoobenthos. The research, conducted in 2013–2014, revealed that Lama and Sobach’e lakes share similar zooplankton compositions, differing from Kutaramakan Lake by the presence of specific copepods. A total of 64 benthic invertebrate taxa were found, with Chironomidae dominating. Kutaramakan Lake lacked amphipods, while Cobach’e Lake exhibited higher biomass, classifying it as oligotrophic to α-mesotrophic based on zooplankton and zoobenthos metrics. Lama and Kutaramakan lakes were deemed ultraoligotrophic.
