Summary

Road construction projects in conserved areas, such as Tanzania's Ngorongoro Conservation Area, significantly boost both social and economic performance. A study involving 98 respondents revealed that while these projects enhance economic outcomes, their positive impact is mediated by improvements in social performance. This finding challenges the assumption that economic benefits alone drive development in protected regions. The research used Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) to analyze questionnaire data, providing empirical evidence for the importance of road infrastructure in fostering sustainable growth in developing countries.
