Summary
A differentiated education model implemented in Caiçara communities of Paraty, Brazil, demonstrates potential to enhance community-based tourism by fostering autonomy and belonging. The initiative, launched in 2016, adapts middle school curricula to local realities while addressing the communities' shift toward sustainable tourism development. Through semi-structured interviews, bibliographic research, and event participation, the study reveals that such education can contribute to organizing tourism in ways that prioritize community empowerment. This approach offers a blueprint for integrating educational innovation with ecological and cultural preservation in UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
