Anatómia historického domu. Hodnoty historickej architektúry a urbanizmu Banskej Štiavnice
A comprehensive analysis reveals the cultural values embedded in the historical architecture and urbanism of Banská Štiavnica. The study highlights regional architectural characteristics through detailed examination of construction principles, stylistic shapes, and urban layouts, using specific examples from the city. It emphasizes the importance of preserving these unique typologies—such as town houses, craftsman's houses, and miner's houses—which are frequently adapted for residential functions. Architectural drawings by Marcel Mészáros provide a visual representation of these insights, offering both academic and practical guidance for heritage protection and restoration efforts.
The Importance and Functions of Riparian Stands of the Recreational Water Reservoir Počuvadlo in Štiavnické Vrchy
Riparian stands along the Počúvadlo recreational water reservoir play a crucial role in protecting the reservoir's banks from erosion, enhancing water quality, and providing essential space for recreation and relaxation. This study highlights their multifunctional significance within the Štiavnické vrchy Protected Landscape Area, where the reservoir serves as a popular hub for cultural and sports events year-round. The research underscores the ecological and recreational value of these riparian stands, contributing to the broader understanding of sustainable water management in historic mining landscapes. The Počúvadlo reservoir, part of Banská Štiavnica's UNESCO-listed heritage, exemplifies the integration of technical innovation with natural conservation, offering insights into preserving such sites for future generations.
Banska Stiavnica Educational Space for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage
Banská Štiavnica stands out as both a historic town and a pioneering center for education and science, dating back to the 18th century with its renowned Mining Academy—the first university of its kind in Europe. A key insight from this study is the transformative role of the Faculty of Architecture at the Slovak University of Technology (SUT) in preserving cultural heritage through active student engagement. Since 1986, a historic building near the town hall has served as a training ground for over 400 students involved in its restoration, evolving into the Research and Education Center of the Faculty of Architecture by 2000. This center now functions as a hub for experimental research and educational activities, blending academic rigor with practical heritage preservation efforts.
