Emerging ecosystems of information and city: Anglo digital repository
A digital repository for the Museo de la Revolución Industrial in Fray Bentos, Uruguay, has been developed to advance the dissemination of architectural and historical heritage within the context of smart cities. This innovative project, part of the I+D initiative 'La ciudad inteligente; un palimpsesto digital,' integrates advanced digital visualization techniques to explore the territory as an integral cultural landscape. The repository not only preserves historical data but also serves as a dynamic tool for understanding the evolution of industrial landscapes and their cultural significance. By analyzing the implementation process, this study provides insights into how digital ecosystems can enhance heritage conservation and urban development in UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Interactive Projection Mapping: Proyecto Patrimonio ANGLO
Interactive projection mapping offers a novel way to enrich the experience of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, as demonstrated by its application to Fray Bentos Industrial Landscape. This technique combines digital fabrication, videomapping, and immersive environments to create an engaging and educational exploration of heritage. By developing a representative model of the site, researchers showcased how projection mapping can integrate images, information, and interactive elements to make cultural experiences more attractive and informative. The approach highlights the potential for this method to bridge gaps between technology and heritage preservation, providing both academic and public audiences with a deeper understanding of historical landscapes.
La ciudad inteligente, un palimpsesto digital. El caso Fray Bentos
A smart city paradigm applied to the UNESCO-listed Fray Bentos Industrial Landscape demonstrates how digital palimpsests can integrate cultural heritage with technological innovation. The study, part of a four-year strategic action plan, challenges traditional urban-rural dichotomies by treating territory as an integral cultural landscape. It employs social-based technological applications to explore smart city concepts, focusing on sustainable development and heritage preservation. Initial results highlight the potential for digital tools to enhance territorial studies while maintaining historical integrity.
