Reconstruction of selected paleoenvironmental components of medieval Toruń, Poland, and its close suburbs

Researchers have successfully reconstructed the pre-13th-century natural environment of medieval Toruń, Poland, and its suburbs, including primary relief, surface geology, and hydrology. This pioneering quantitative reconstruction combines topographical, geological, and historical data to provide a foundation for understanding biotic components and verifying hypotheses about the town's founding and development. Despite limitations, the study offers valuable insights into the environmental conditions that shaped Toruń's early spatial organization.
