Summary
A palyno-morphological study of Samarkand, Uzbekistan, reveals that the region's warm spring climate triggers earlier pollen production and dispersal compared to colder climates where these species originate. Researchers analyzed six allergenic plant species—Betula pendula, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Magnolia × soulangeana, Pinus brutia var. eldarica, Populus alba, and Quercus robur—using light microscopy to document pollen characteristics such as size, shape, exine thickness, and colpi dimensions. The findings underscore the significance of pollen morphology in species identification and highlight variations in palynological traits among these plants, contributing to future phylogenetic studies of Uzbekistan's flora. This work also aims to inform an atlas of allergenic plants and a public warning system for pollen spread in Samarkand.
