Immersive cultural heritage digital documentation and information service for historical figure metaverse: a case of Zhu Xi, Song Dynasty, China

A metaverse-based digital documentation framework for historical figures, exemplified by Zhu Xi, founder of Neo-Confucianism and a key figure in Mount Wuyi's cultural heritage, has been developed to advance immersive cultural tourism. This framework integrates multimodal data digitization tailored for metaverse presentations, enabling contactless virtual and real cultural experiences that enhance research and preservation efforts. The study also introduces an immersive cultural tourism information service designed to provide tourists with a comprehensive experience before, during, and after their visit. By leveraging the metaverse, this approach represents a significant step forward in creating interactive historical figure metaverses, offering new avenues for cultural engagement and education.
