Summary

A groundbreaking analysis of 64 arrowheads from the Sultan Giyaseddin Keyhüsrev-II Caravanserai in Eğirdir, Isparta, reveals significant insights into Seljuk war technology. These arrowheads, examined using morphologic, archaeo-metallurgical, and terminological methods, are the first to be directly dated within their stratigraphic contexts, providing a rare comparative dataset for medieval Anatolian weaponry. The study classified the arrowheads based on their structural features and compared them with contemporary examples, offering new proposals for technical terminology derived from historical warfare treatises. Eight samples underwent advanced archaeometric analysis, including Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectrometry (EDS), shedding light on their micro-structures and composition. This research fills a critical gap in the understanding of medieval Anatolian military technology.
