Summary
Kraków, as the historic capital of Poland, emerged as a pivotal spiritual and cultural center during the Galician autonomy period (1860–1914). Despite being under foreign rule, its deep-rooted traditions, suburban folklore, and symbolic significance fostered its role as the heart of Polish national identity. This study highlights Kraków's enduring influence on Polish culture, even amid political fragmentation, by analyzing historical records and cultural artifacts from the 19th century to the eve of World War I.
