Summary
A novel approach combining close-range photogrammetry and Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) technology successfully captured detailed geospatial data of the ruined caravanserai in Koysenjaq, Iraqi Kurdistan. This method enabled the creation of an orthophoto map representing the current state of the structure, facilitating comparison with historical vector data and preparing outputs for Historical Building Information Management (HBIM). The study highlights the potential of these techniques for preserving cultural heritage sites along the Silk Roads, where caravanserais hold significant historical importance due to their role in trade, culture, and social exchange. This research contributes to the broader effort of documenting and analyzing such sites using advanced geospatial technologies.
