Summary

Public participation is increasingly recognized as essential for sustainable cultural heritage conservation, particularly in UNESCO World Heritage Sites. A key insight from recent research is that effective engagement of local communities can enhance the value and preservation of heritage while addressing challenges in management and tourism. This study synthesizes international charters and documents, such as the Venice Charter and the Faro Convention, to highlight how participatory approaches shift focus from mere conservation to the societal benefits of heritage. It also integrates Human-Computer Interaction methodologies to propose innovative, people-centered strategies for heritage management. These findings underscore the need for inclusive practices that empower local stakeholders in decision-making processes.
