Summary
Modernist urbanism in Lithuania fundamentally reshaped the social-spatial dynamics of three major cities—Kaunas, Klaipėda, and Vilnius—during the Soviet era (1939–2016). This monograph reveals how modernist approaches introduced revolutionary spatial configurations that altered public space usage and city functionality. By applying interdisciplinary network theory and mathematical models, the study demonstrates that these transformations were not merely architectural but also deeply social, redefining urban life. The analysis highlights Kaunas as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, showcasing its unique role in this process.
