Summary
A bottom-up revival of the traditional game S'cianco (Tip-cat) in Verona, Italy, has transformed urban space into a dynamic playground, challenging conventional notions of gamification. This citizen-driven movement, spanning over two decades, has not only fostered annual self-organized tournaments but also birthed the Tocatì-International Street Games Festival—a cornerstone event for Europe's Traditional Sports and Games Network. Despite its cultural significance, this phenomenon remains underexplored in academic literature. The paper bridges this gap by analyzing the festival's establishment, offering a framework to study how traditional games reshape urban spaces and community engagement.
