Summary
A high level of icon-painting education was established at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra's 18th-century workshop, which later transformed into a formal school. This institution not only maintained strict conditions but also actively taught students, who were divided into apprentices and pupils, following Western educational models. The study reveals that the workshop produced unique Ukrainian religious portraits, characterized by distinct iconographic features and inscriptions reflecting local cultural elements. Drawing from archival documents and workshop drawings, the research demonstrates the Lavra's role in preserving and innovating Ukrainian baroque art, offering insights into its teaching methods and artistic output.
