Summary

A novel approach using generative design has identified nine optimized daily tour routes within Istanbul's UNESCO-listed Historic Peninsula, revealing overlooked sightseeing potentials beyond traditional landmarks like Sultanahmet Square and Topkapı Palace. The study prioritized walkability and exploration of the peninsula's 12,000 registered buildings, including those on the Marmara Walls and Golden Horn shores, by analyzing road widths and topography. These routes, with defined starting points and mandatory stops, were optimized for accessibility while preserving historical texture, offering a decision support tool for city planners, tour guides, and travelers.
