Summary

Researchers have sequenced the complete chloroplast genome of Semiaquilegia danxiashanensis, a rare plant endemic to China's Danxia landform, revealing its genetic structure and evolutionary relationships. The 160,548 bp genome exhibits a typical quadripartite organization with distinct large single-copy (LSC), small single-copy (SSC), and inverted repeat (IR) regions, containing 133 genes. Phylogenetic analysis positioned S. danxiashanensis as sister to S. adoxoides, while confirming its close affinity with Urophysa and Aquilegia within the Ranunculaceae family. This study provides foundational data for understanding the evolutionary history of Semiaquilegia and offers insights into the genetic adaptation of species endemic to the unique Danxia landform.
