Summary
The Richtersveld Cultural and Botanical Landscape features distinct mafic-ultramafic plutonic intrusions that form an early phase of the Palaeoproterozoic Vioolsdrif Intrusive Suite. These intrusions, characterized by their dark weathering features, are a mappable unit within a predominantly granitic terrain. The study identifies the Vuurdood Subsuite, named after a twin peak massif near Goodhouse, and describes its lithostratigraphy at Swartkop, 20 km south of Vioolsdrif. The research provides detailed analysis of rock types including gabbro, metagabbro, quartz-metagabbro, peridotite, and troctolite, contributing to the understanding of the geological structure and evolution of the Richtersveld Magmatic Arc.
