Summary

Traditional Suzhou buildings, particularly those found within the UNESCO-listed Classical Gardens of Suzhou, exhibit a unique landscaping art and cultural interpretation through their walls. These walls blend aesthetic elements from both Chinese and Western traditions, creating a distinct aesthetic system that integrates form, content, and emotional expression. The study reveals that this integration is achieved by combining diachronic (historical) and synchronic (contemporary) perspectives to analyze the spatial spirit, form characteristics, cultural connotations, and aesthetic qualities of these walls. This approach highlights how social and cultural contexts shape the landscaping aesthetics of Suzhou's traditional architecture, offering a deeper understanding of its cultural significance.
