Summary
Rainy days significantly boost negative air ion (NAI) concentrations, but this effect lingers for only two days before NAIs sharply decline on the third day. Using hourly data from 2019 at Wuyi Mountain National Parkresearchers found that precipitation (PRE) is the dominant driver of NAI levels on rainy days, while relative humidity (RHU), sea-level pressure, and temperature play key roles on non-rainy days. The study also revealed that NAIs respond more strongly to RHU during rain and to pressure, visibility, vapor pressure, and ground surface temperature otherwise. These insights clarify the complex relationship between weather factors and NAI dynamics, highlighting PRE’s critical role in their temporal behavior.
