Summary

Local communities in Cumalıkızık, a UNESCO World Heritage Site marking the birthplace of the Ottoman Empire, generally hold positive attitudes toward tourism. This study reveals that while economic benefits are strongly appreciated, concerns about environmental pollution and cultural degradation also emerge as significant issues. The research employed a qualitative approach using semi-structured interviews with 12 residents, analyzing data through content analysis to identify key themes. Findings underscore the importance of integrating local perspectives into future tourism planning to balance economic gains with socio-cultural and environmental sustainability.
