Summary
A study on the Summer Palace, Beijing, reveals that cultural, historical, and aesthetic values are increasingly favored by visitors, with social value hotspots centered around architectural complexes and waters. Using public participation geographic information systems (PPGIS), researchers assessed ecosystem services' social value and its spatial distribution, finding three core hotspot areas. The research also highlights differences in perceptions between anthropocentrists and ecocentrists, with the latter showing higher overall social value indices. This analysis provides insights for urban ecological space planning and management, emphasizing the relationship between environmental landscape features and visitors' perceived social values.
