Summary
Researchers have identified Pseudomonas alcaligenes, a bacterium capable of producing arylamidase enzymes, in the water of Al-Asfar Lake within the UNESCO-listed Al-Ahsa Oasis. This discovery marks the first documentation of this species in the lake's ecosystem. The study employed culture-dependent methods and VITEK biochemical tests to isolate and characterize the bacterium with 95% probability. The findings suggest that P. alcaligenes holds potential for bioremediation applications, offering a promising avenue for addressing pollutant biodegradation and enhancing environmental sustainability in eutrophic ecosystems like Al-Asfar Lake.
