Summary

A comprehensive analysis of calcareous nannofossil assemblages from the boreal Upper Campanian to Upper Maastrichtian chalk of Denmark has uncovered 138 species, including several rarely documented and two newly described species: Prediscosphaera borealensis and Tranolithus stemmerikii, along with a new combination, Staurolithites dicandidula. The study, conducted across three sections—Stevns-1 borehole near Stevns Klint, Rordal-1 borehole, and Rordal quarry in North Jylland—reveals the diversity of these microscopic organisms during a critical period in Earth's history. The moderately preserved samples provide insights into the paleoenvironmental conditions of the time, contributing valuable data to our understanding of Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary dynamics.
