Territorial-planning constituents of urban planning components to be protected

A critical analysis of the 'Historic Centre of Saint Petersburg and Related Groups of Monuments,' reveals that destruction of its historical environment stems from flaws in protection systems or inadequate methodological approaches. The study identifies key territorial-planning constituents within urban planning components that require preservation, evaluating existing conservation methods through a multi-faceted approach involving archival-bibliographic, cartographic, analytical, and field studies. This research is timely as Russia addresses 'city-planning mistakes' that threaten historical cityscapes globally. By pinpointing systemic weaknesses in heritage protection, the study offers actionable insights for safeguarding UNESCO World Heritage Sites against irreversible urban degradation.
