Summary

Local farmers in Cambodia's Siem Reap-Angkor region face significant constraints in linking their agricultural production to the tourism market, primarily due to structural supply-side issues and institutional barriers. These challenges, while similar to those in other developing countries, are compounded by the unique context of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where demand-side factors also play a role. The study highlights that farmers' inability to engage effectively with the tourism sector stems from interconnected market, institutional, and structural limitations. Unlike previous research focusing on demand-side perspectives, this study adopts a supply-side approach, centering on farmers' experiences through qualitative methods, including stakeholder interviews and farmer questionnaires. Findings offer critical insights for policymakers aiming to strengthen agriculture-tourism linkages, potentially alleviating poverty in the region.
