Summary

Historic Jeddah's Al-Balad streets hold significant potential to enhance urban vitality and user experience, yet current conservation policies fall short of addressing qualitative improvements. A study combining qualitative and quantitative methods—including the Measuring Urban Qualities technique, GIS Pro 2.8 software, and user surveys—reveals that while these streets offer a rich foundation for memorable urban experiences, existing conservation efforts prioritize environmental preservation over experiential quality. The findings underscore an urgent need to refocus conservation strategies on qualitative urban enhancement to better align with community perceptions and future heritage preservation goals.
