These systems, characterized by communal management models, continue to serve as a blueprint for sustainable water use today. However, they face significant challenges that threaten their long-term viability. The study highlights the dual role of these irrigation practices—preserving biodiversity and historical architecture while adapting to modern demands. It underscores the need for innovative strategies to ensure the survival of this cultural heritage in the face of environmental pressures.
