Summary

A study of Algiers Casbah reveals significant variations in outdoor thermal comfort within its historic urban fabric, particularly under sea breeze conditions. The research found that collapsed buildings and the sky view factor substantially impact mean radiant temperature (Tmrt) and physiological equivalent temperature (PET), leading to high heat stress levels, especially during hot hours. Notably, PET differences reached 3.7 °C in January and 2.2 °C in August between subspaces. The findings underscore the need for targeted urban rehabilitation strategies to mitigate heat stress while preserving heritage integrity.
