Tourist satisfaction: an analysis of tourists visiting historic centres in Portugal

Tourists visiting historic centers in Portugal, including the UNESCO-listed Historic Centre of Évora, exhibit exceptionally high levels of satisfaction. This study confirms that tourist satisfaction is closely linked to motivations for travel, quality of experience, and loyalty to the destination. Researchers conducted surveys over three peak summer months across five major Portuguese historical sites—Porto, Coimbra, Lisbon, Évora, and Faro—to analyze these relationships. Hypothesis testing validated the connections between these constructs, providing insights that could inform tourism management strategies aimed at enhancing visitor satisfaction and long-term destination loyalty.
