Summary

UNESCO World Heritage Site status has significantly boosted rail tourism on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR), known as the 'Blue Mountains,' by integrating its rich architectural, cultural, and tribal heritage into global heritage tourism narratives. This study identifies key motivating factors driving tourist interest in the NMR through advanced statistical analysis, including Student t-test, One-way ANOVA, Chi-square test, Pearson Correlations, and Factor Analysis. The findings highlight how the NMR's unique blend of history and scenic beauty attracts visitors to the 'Queen of the Hills' in the Nilgiris district, contributing to its momentum as a premier heritage rail tourism destination.
