Summary

A novel methodological framework for geomorphological mapping in high mountain areas, particularly in tropical environments, has been developed and applied to two case studies: Cerro Chirripó in the Talamanca Range and the Reserva Biológica Alberto Manuel Brenes in the Central Volcanic Range. The study emphasizes the importance of combining classical and digital mapping techniques with advanced technologies like UAVs and GIS to accurately capture landform dynamics, crucial for water security, natural hazard assessment, and ecosystem conservation. High-resolution cartography, achieved through this approach, provides critical insights into glacier and fluvial geomorphology in warming environments, offering a scalable model for global mountainous regions.
